Employment Authority currently taking part in GETEX exhibition to update students about labour market requirements
Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, has today (Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai-based Al Ghurair University to provide training and employment opportunities for the UAE National students and graduates of the university. The MoU was signed at Al Ghurair's stand at GETEX (The Gulf Education & Training Exhibition), which began today at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
According to the terms of the MoU, Tanmia will work closely with the Al Ghurair University to create a qualified and skilled pool of National human resource in the UAE. Al Ghurair University will share with Tanmia, information and data relevant to National students enrolled with it, and will specifically provide information on students who are keen to find training and job opportunities.
Tanmia will recommend students from Al Ghurair University registered in its database, as jobseekers for employment and training opportunities available in the UAE, and will invite these students to attend various career fairs organised by Tanmia to showcase job opportunities in private and public sector organisations in the country. The university on its part will utilise all available means to inform its students of such fairs and exhibitions.
“We are pleased to sign this MoU with a leading university in the UAE that share our vision of maximising employment opportunities for UAE Nationals. We will make the best use of our resources to facilitate training of National students and make them well-prepared for successfully handling the requirements of today’s demanding corporate environment,” said Feddah Lootah, Acting Director General, Tanmia.
“UAE Nationals have proven their ability and skill in various challenging roles in the private and public sector, and a growing number of companies in the UAE are now taking measures to increase the number of Nationals in their workforce. By working together with university, we will be able to create a larger pool of qualified and trained UAE Nationals who are fully equipped to take up various responsibilities at the workplace,” she added.
Tanmia will also provide the Al Ghurair University with career guidance information and materials to raise students’ awareness about recent developments in the UAE labour market and the requirements of the job market.
GETEX is the largest education fair in the Middle East & Asia. Organized by International Conferences & Exhibitions LLC (IC&E), GETEX is currently held at three venues – Dubai in UAE, Bahrain and Bangalore in India. In the UAE, GETEX focuses on three distinct segments – Education Equipment & Technology; Careers & Training; and Student Recruitment.
Commenting on Tanmia’s participation in GETEX, Lootah concluded: “Our primary goal of participating in GETEX is to share our knowledge of the UAE labour market with the hundreds of students and jobseekers who are attending the exhibition. We believe that students will be able to make informed decisions regarding choice of higher education and career streams, if they are fully aware of the challenges and requirements of the labour market.”
