TEAM EMSF TAKES EMPHATIC VICTORY IN NIVEA FOR MEN OIL CONTROL 1,000KMS OF DUBAI

Organized by Kartdrome of Dubai Autodrome, the Nivea for Men Oil Control 1,000 kms of Dubai, the first of three races of the Go Kart Endurance Championship 2005, was won yesterday by team EMSF.

The two-day event attracted 18 teams and around 100 drivers, at the start of what promises to be the most exciting Go Kart Championship. Free practice and qualifying rounds took place on Thursday between 9 and 11:45pm. The festivities on Friday kicked off at 2pm at the club circuit with a free initiation for youngsters between 7 and 12 years of age, while a large crowd was on hand for the start of the race.

The race, which started on Friday May 27 at 6:50pm and finished the following day at 12:30pm witnessed a tight fight for the top positions. At the closing rounds of the race team EMSF won by a margin of eight laps over team Masafi, who secured second position by a margin of one lap over One & Only Platinum, who took a deserved third place. The Uptown Karting Exhibition Team crossed the finish line first, but did not feature in the overall classification. The race ended after the first car passed 1,000kms.

During the event, a beautiful firework show lit up the Dubai sky to the crowd’s delight. This event proved to be fun not only to the teams and drivers but for everyone who attended. Entertainment for spectators included an online Go Kart game competition conducted by Nivea for a chance to win a Go Kart. Masafi had two activity tents for children, while Red Bull entertained the competitors and the crowd with a DJ rocking the crowd with exciting music.

"It was a fantastic and hectic race for us and a great start to the championship," said the captain of team EMSF. "We didn't have any problems with the car and we showed that we were the best team. We are looking forward to the next race and hope we can repeat what we achieved today. The team would like to thank the Dubai Autodrome staff for this highly professional and well organized race."

Team Masafi was satisfied with its second position and one of the drivers said: "Our objective was to come here and make sure that we stand on the podium and this is what we did, our well planned strategy paid off at the end. We would like to congratulate the winners and all the teams for an excellent race.”
 
David Terrien, Go Kart world champion and manager of Kartdrome said: “The presence of 18 teams is a sign of confidence in the Kartdrome. Everybody was happy with their times, the race was good, clean fun from start to finish. The challenge resulted in huge interest and rivalry and the support that the teams got from families, friends and colleagues was tremendous. I would like to congratulate the winning team as well as all the teams for their competitive spirit, and also the staff of the Kartdrome of Dubai Autodrome for their efforts to ensure the event was a success. Our next race takes place on September 30, so we hope to see all the teams as well as new ones.”
 
The Nivea for Men, Oil Control 1,000kms of Dubai was organized by the Kartdrome of Dubai Autodrome and supported by Gauloises, 7 DAYS, In TV, ENOC and Virgin Megastores. The next stop on the Go Kart Endurance Championship tour of three events will be the on September 30.
