Temex announces the launch of Oscillators and Saw Filters for WiMAX applications

Temex, one of the worldwide leaders in the field of high-performance Time and Frequency components and sub-systems, today announced the availability of a range of new Frequency Components for WiMAX Applications.

Low Phase Noise, VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillators) suit WiMAX applications --
Provided in 0.50 x 0.50 x 0.16 in. package, Temex’s VLB2857 VCO (frequency range: 2856-3050 MHz) offers a low phase noise performance of -98 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offset away from carrier. This new VCO provides an average tuning sensitivity of 12 MHz/V and typical harmonic suppression of -10dBc. It also guarantees an output power of +3 dBm min over a temperature range of -40 to +85°C. It covers 194 MHz bandwidth from 1 to 20 V.

At higher frequencies, VLB3661 (frequency range: 3660-3960 MHz) offers a low phase noise performance of - 96dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offset away from carrier. This new VCO provides an average tuning sensitivity of 32 MHz/V and typical harmonic suppression of -10 dBc. It also guarantees an output power of +3 dBm min over a temperature range of -40 to +85°C. It covers 330 MHz bandwidth from 1 to 20 V.

These VCOs are both RoHS compliant and suited for automated surface mount assembly and lead-free reflow and are available in tape and reel packaging for production requirements.

Low phase noise VC-TCXO --
CVT 5347A (frequency: 30 MHz) is a new VC-TCXO based on direct analog compensation design. It offers a low phase noise performance of -135dBc/Hz @ 1kHz offset away from carrier. CVT 5347A provides tolerance of ± 3.0ppm max and typical harmonic suppression of -5.0dBc max. It also guarantees a frequency stability of ± 3.0ppm over a temperature range of -30 to +75°C. CVT5347 is compatible for lead free reflow soldering process with a peak reflow temperature of 260°C max and is RoHS compliant. This VC-TCXO  is available in package size 5 mm x 3.2 mm.

High rejection IF SAW filters --
Using its experience and know-how in the development and production of IF filters for Wireless Infrastructures, Temex takes a leading position to support the upcoming market for WiMAX applications.  “Super-heterodyne architecture allows greater flexibility in terms of frequency planning and filtering. This architecture is therefore mandatory in WiMAX systems which have to deal with several RF frequencies: 2.5, 3.5 and 5.8 GHz. The transmitter requires a high rejection SAW filter to provide the required degree of LO and image attenuation. The receiver requires a high selective SAW filter to meet adjacent channel rejection requirements and spurious filtering. Thanks to its long-standing experience in the design and manufacture of SAW filters, TEMEX meet these requirements with low insertion loss and sharp transition from passband to high level rejection band together with low cost and high reliability “said Stephane Chamaly, field application engineer. Today, Temex offers the TMX W520 : a high rejection SAW filter at 456 MHz. Its bandwidth at –3 dB is 3.7MHz. This new SAW filter offers a rejection of 40dBmin at ± 3.35 MHz, over a temperature range of -40 to +85°C. TMX W520 is available in ceramic package size 7mm x 5mm x 1.35mm and is RoHS compliant. TMX W540 SAW filter is also suited for the chipmakers standard, with a high rejection at 380MHz. Its bandwidth at –3 dB is 3.7MHz. This new SAW filter offers a rejection superior to 40dB at ± 3.35MHz and available in ceramic package size 7 mm x 5 mm x 1.35mm. For high-speed WiMAX applications, the TMX W507 SAW filter at 140 MHz is outstanding with bandwidth at –3 dB is 8.4MHz. This new SAW filter offers a rejection superior to 40dB at ± 8MHz and available in ceramic package size 13.3 mm x 6.5 mm x 1.6mm.
