Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) in partnership with Tetra Pak Arabia, the world’s largest food processing and packaging company, is launching a carton collection and recycling awareness drive amongst school children in Dubai, UAE.

Aimed at educating children on the benefits of recycling, the campaign highlights the importance of protecting the environment through every day actions such as proper disposal of consumed milk or juice Tetra Pak beverage cartons.

Commenting on the initiative, Mohammed Angawi, Environment Manager, Tetra Pak Arabia, said, “We are pleased to partner with EEG to raise environment awareness amongst children and to do our part in educating them to become responsible members of society. In line with our motto, ‘PROTECTS WHATS GOOD’, we are committed to protecting the environment and this initiative is a step forward in that direction.”

Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson EEG, said, “EEG is strongly committed to the protection and preservation of our environment, which is why we’ve created this initiative with Tetra Pak Arabia for students to understand the environmental benefits of recycling Tetra Pak carton packages.”

Starting March, Tetra Pak Arabia and EEG will place specially created waste bins across selected schools. The waste will be regularly collected by EEG and then recycled by Union Paper Mills in Dubai. Not only will this initiative help spread environmental awareness; it will also reward the school with the highest collection of carton packages on World Environment Day next year.

Specially organised awareness sessions will be carried out with school teachers to educate them on the programme and to impart this to the participating students. Each participating school is a winner in bringing about positive change and will receive a certificate of appreciation from both parties as well as exciting prizes for the top three schools.

EEG has been working towards environmental preservation since its inception in 1991. The group has always strived hard to inculcate environmental consciousness among the youth of UAE through its educational and recycling programmes.

Similarly, Tetra Pak has always played an active role in the community. Recent awareness drives include osteoporosis seminars in schools and World Milk Days in the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Bahrain and Yemen.
