Syrians and Arabs marked Monday the second anniversary of the death of late President, Hafez al-Assad, who “built the modern developed Syria of Today” and “defended Arabs' interests and causes”, the official Syrian Arab News Agency SANA reported.
Thousands of Syrians flooded Monday Qirdaha, the birthplace of the late president, in order to pay homage and recite verses of holy books.
According to the news agency, what has “consoled” the people of Syria over the demise of the late President is the “presence of Mr. Bashar Assad”, whom the “masses brought to power” and “voted for unanimously”, in order to continue the “march of (the) late president on the way” to “reform and modernization”.
