Three adidas customers have won the NBA trip of a lifetime; Racha Kamal, Emmanuel Sequeira and Glenn Mill Calicidan are the lucky recipients of a trip to New York city in 2008, where they will have the chance to meet basketball superstar Tracy McGrady, “T-mac”, watch the Houston Rockets play the New York Knicks at the legendary Madison Square Garden and visit the adidas flagship performance store with an exclusive voucher.
It all began last month when adidas launched the nationwide “Together We Are Basketball” campaign, which beckoned fans to visit either the brand stores or www.adidas.ae and record a personal 24-second video about adidas, the NBA (National Basketball Association) and basketball.
The campaign could not be more fitting to all three winners who hail from different parts of the world. Racha Kamal, a 15 year old student from Lebanon who has played for the Lebanon National League and 27 year old Glenn Mill Calicidan from the Philippines both recorded their stories at the adidas Sport Performance Centre, Dubai Festival City while 16 year old Emmanuel Sequeira, a student in Abu Dhabi recorded his story at the adidas store at Al Wahda Mall.
Racha Kamal, who one day dreams of being in the Womens National Basketball Association, said “I still cant believe I won and am going to meet Tracy McGrady. When I meet him I’ll believe it!”
The winners were selected from a pool of participants and invited to the adidas Sport Performance Centre, Dubai Festival City yesterday to claim their prize from Darryl Peacock, head of retail, adidas Emerging Markets. The winners were also presented with a Tracy McGrady jersey and adidas basketball.
Emmanuel Sequeira also commented: “Ever since I was a kid I was crazy about adidas and my whole room is filled with adidas gear. Now adidas has given me the greatest gift which is to go to New York to meet my favourite player T-Mac. I’m so happy!”
The latest NBA range is available at adidas brand stores in the Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Dubai Festival City, BurJuman Shopping Mall and Al Ghurair Centre in Dubai and the Al Wahda Mall and Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi.
