Three Algerian soldiers have been killed and 22 wounded in an ambush laid by Islamic extremists in the northeastern part of Algeria, newspapers reported Monday.
An army patrol fell into the ambush Sunday between the towns of Bissi and Bountouz in the Skikda region, some 510 kilometers east of Algiers, where the extremists had planted several bombs.
The first bomb exploded at around midday as a military vehicle passed. One soldier was killed and ten others injured. Seven more soldiers were injured in a second explosion, with a third blast claiming two more lives and injuring five more soldiers, the papers said. (Albawaba.com)
