Israeli forces early Tuesday captured commander of Hamas' military wing in the West Bank. Sheikh Ibrahim Hamed, 41, has been wanted by Israel since 1998 for attacks that claimed the lives of more than 100 Israelis.
According to Haaretz, Hamed, who was on Israel's most-wanted list for eight years, was captured at a hideout in Ramallah.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh told Haaretz that the Hamas-led government is ready to agree to an extended cease-fire if Israel withdraws to the 1967 lines. "If Israel withdraws to the 1967 borders, peace will prevail and we will implement a cease-fire [hudna] for many years," Haniyeh said during an interview from his Gaza office. "Our government is prepared to maintain a long-term cease-fire with Israel."
