Transguard Group and Axenttech set to become the region’s leading provider of Integrated Security Frameworks

Combining their efforts as premier physical and logical access control solutions providers, Transguard Group and Axenttech are organizing a breakthrough seminar on the convergence of their two solutions. The event will be held on April 8-9, 2008 at the Hilton Jumeirah Hotel and will introduce the integrated security framework to major companies in the Gulf Region.

Currently, the typical approach for physical access control involves the deployment of a stand-alone access control system.  Similarly, the current approach to logical access management involves the deployment of stand-alone identity management and account provisioning solutions. The objective of this seminar is to describe the way in which enterprises and governments can maximize cost and operational efficiencies by combining these two solutions into an Integrated Security Framework.

“Until recently, physical and logical security systems have been separate. The convergence of Transguard Group’s and Axenttech’s physical and logical solutions enables communication between the two solutions resulting in an exceptionally robust security framework,” said Jamie Bliss, Chief Operating Officer at Axenttech.

Organizations today are under increasing pressure to develop control over their physical and logical security environments. Drivers for this include the need to improve overall security, a reduction in operational costs and an increase in the efficiency of internal processes and networks.  In addition, the increased adoption of local/federal/global regulations is driving a more robust compliance regime.

“There are two aspects to consider when combining physical and logical access management” said Greg Wiseman, Sales & Marketing Director at Transguard Group.  “Physical access control provides a layered approach to security through the management of individuals’ credentials and access rights.  Logical access management controls a user’s rights to specific network resources, applications and accounts.”

The majority of physical access control systems are currently managed independently of an enterprise’s IT functions. Typically, there is little consolidation between users’ identities on a physical access network and the digital identities that control the access to their organization’s IT infrastructure.

The Ultra Thin Client provided by Axenttech and Sun Microsystems enables the deployment of integrated solutions through connector-based convergence with physical access control systems. This solution provides users with a “unified identity” with a single point of administration for both physical and logical identities throughout their organization. Advantages of this Integrated Security Framework results in a more robust security environment which is both compliant and efficient.
