ALBAWABA - U.S. President Donald Trump held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their visit to South Korea on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit in Gyeongju on Thursday.

After the meeting, Trump said he agreed to lower fentanyl tariffs on China to 10 percent from 20 percent.

Trump said Xi was "a great leader of a great country," while the Chinese president said it was a "great pleasure" to see Donald, adding that they had been talking since the start of 2025.

NBC News reported, citing Donald Trump, that a trade deal with South Korea was "pretty much finalized".

On the other hand, the president of the U.S. denied having any talks with Xi about Taiwan. "Taiwan never came up," he told reporters, adding, "It was not discussed, actually."

Trump also denied having any talks about lifting the ban imposed by America on the sale of Nvidia’s highest-powered AI chip to China.

Trump is expected to arrive at the White House at 3:05 p.m. ET.
