April 7 coincided with the 17th anniversary of the destruction of the artificial border gate of Rass Ejdair, set between Libya and Tunisia.
In a historic rally, on 17th April 1988, amidst chants of tens of thousands of people from both countries, Libyan leader Moammar al Kadhafi drove a bulldozer and destroyed the artificial border gate, Jana reported.
"We announce, here the removal of the artificial borders between Tunisia and Libya and the masses in Tunisia and Libya have to remove the falsehood created by colonialism one- hundred years ago," said the Libyan ruler in his speech at that rally.
