Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali said Tuesday it would be opportune to hold an Arab-African summit to examine cooperation between the two regions.
In a speech delivered on his behalf at the 3rd session of the Assembly of the African Union in Addis Ababa by Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi, the Tunisian leader said, "Tunisia attaches a great importance to Arab-African cooperation, given the strong historical, civilizational and political ties and the mutual interests in all fields uniting these two regions." He added, "We are convinced that it is time to think of materializing these objective through the convening of an Arab-African Summit."
