The London magistrate court of Bow Street has authorized a request from the Spanish authorities to extradite a Tunisian national, Hedi Ben Youssef Boudhiba, detained in the UK and accused of belonging to a Spanish cell that funds al-Qaeda, according to the Tunisian news source, Tunezine. He will be deported around November 1.

The British magistrate, Daphne Wickham, rejected Boudhiba’s defense after he was arrested August 20 at Liverpool following an appeal from the Spanish anti-terrorism legal expert Baltazar Garzon in May.

The Spanish authorities claim that Boudhiba, 44, is key in the financing of al-Qaeda cells in Spain. He faces at least 15 years in prison. The Tunisian government is not intervening. (albawaba.com)
