At his meeting Thursday with Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Tunis, Mazen Abu Chanab, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Khemaies Jhinaoui suggested the establishment of a coordination plan with specialized UN organizations to effectively manage the flow of refugees in times of crisis.

"This plan must take into consideration the new world situation marked by the growing terrorist threat," Jhinaoui estimated.

He also reiterated Tunisia’s readiness to support UNHCR's efforts to assist refugees, thanks to the experience gained in this field, following the Libyan revolution.

For his part, the UN official stressed UNHCR's willingness to act in coordination with the Tunisian authorities, UN agencies and other specialized international organizations to tackle humanitarian crises in case the situation deteriorates in Libya.

Tunisia is the only country to have a comprehensive plan for humanitarian aid in line with international standards, said Abu Chanab.
