Turkish police sources said on Tuesday that they have arrested a "prime suspect" in relation to the car bombings that killed 51 people in a small town near the Syrian border on May 11.
AFP reported that the man, who is of Turkish origins, was apprehended whilst trying to cross into Syria with two accomplices.
The arrested man is believed to have bought the vehicles that were used in the deadly attacks in the small Turkish town of Reyhanli, which is close to the Syrian border.
In addition to this recent arrest, the Turkish authorities have already charged 12 people over the attacks, all of whom are Turkish nationals.
The Turkish government is working alone on the investigation, after rebutting an offer from Damascus to host a joint inquiry into the motivations and culprits behind the bombings, which were the deadliest case of the Syrian spillover into neighbouring Turkey.
