At least four people, including three policemen, were killed and several others injured in two separate explosions early Wednesday in Mogadishu, Somalia, security sources have said.

Ali Mahmoud Ghab, head of Mogadishu police, said that the two blasts occurred simultaneously.

The first blast occurred in Wabri neighborhood while the second attack was a car that was parked outside the main police station in Mogadishu,” Ghab said.

Ghab added that the two explosions also left several people injured. Some of the injured were immediately transferred to hospital.

No group claimed immediate responsibility for explosions but on Monday the al-Shabaab group said it was behind a blast at Beledweyne Airport in Somalia which injured at least four people.

Last month, al-Shabaab also claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that blew a hole in the fuselage of a passenger plane shortly after takeoff in the capital, Mogadishu.
