Members of State Security Friday apprehended two residents of north Lebanon suspected of having links with Islamist militants, a security source told The Daily Star.

The source said the two arrested men are Lebanese nationals and identified them as Abdel Salam Mostapha al-Ali and Ahmad al-Sheikh from Wadi Khaled, in Akkar region on Lebanon’s northern border with Syria.

The two men are suspected of having connections with Nusra Front, the Al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria and one of the main Islamist rebel groups fighting against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
