Two Saudi Arabian citizens were beheaded after being convicted of murder, the Interior Ministry said Tuesday.

Shuwail Al Amri was found guilty of killing his relative Mohammed Al Amir by running him over with his car after an argument, according to a ministry statement run by SPA state news agency and picked up by AFP.

Al Amri's execution took place in the southern region of Al Baha.

According to a second statement released by the ministry, another Saudi national was beheaded after he was found guilty of shooting dead Mohammed Abdullah Musbeh Al Amri, in the southern city of Jizan.

According to AFP figures, these cases bring the total number of executions in Saudi Arabia since the start of the year to 49.

76 people were put to death in the US-backed Saudi kingdom in 2012, according to an AFP tally.

Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery, drug trafficking, sorcery and witchcraft are all punishable by death under Saudi Arabia's strict version of sharia, or Islamic law”, AFP reported.
