Two Palestinian women died of Israeli gunfire on Friday - one as she sat on a balcony in the West Bank city of Nablus and another of wounds suffered on Oct. 2 in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army said it was unaware of the Friday incident and said it had been responding to gunfire from a populated area in the earlier case.

In Nablus, doctors said a 52-year-old schoolteacher, Shaden Abu Hikleh, died of a shot to the chest that Palestinian witnesses said came from someone in an Israeli jeep. The Israel army said it was unaware of any shooting.

In the Gaza Strip city of Rafah, doctors said that Fathiyeh Soufi, a 47-year-old nurse, died of injuries suffered on Oct. 2. Witnesses said she was shot in the head from an Israeli border post as she left her house. The army said the post had responded to gunfire from a populated area on that day

Meanwhile, a Palestinian suicide bomber was captured on Tel Aviv's main seaside promenade Friday night before he could detonate his explosives belt, Israeli police said. He was apprently on his way to a nearby eestaurant on the boardwalk.

"A Palestinian suicide terrorist wearing an explosives belt was caught by citizens and policemen," a police officer, told Israel Radio. He added no one was injured in the incident near the American embassy. The man, who walked pass the embassy, had aroused the security guards' suspicion, and they then approached him and discovered he was wearing an explosive belt. They managed to stop him and strip him of the belt, Israeli reports said.

Police sappers neutralized and detonated the explosives. Israel Radio reported that the bomber was being interrogated by security officials. (Albawaba.com)
