ALBAWABA - The US is getting ready to send a second aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East. Officials say this is to make the military more ready as tensions rise in the area.

The New York Times reported that U.S. sources confirmed that the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and the warships that go with it will be sent to the area. The ship will likely join the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is already working in the Gulf.

The move would put two U.S. carrier strike groups in the same area, which would make Washington's naval force in the Middle East much stronger. Analysts see the move as a warning and a sign of being more ready for operations.

The move comes at a time when tensions in the region are still high and diplomatic efforts to talk to Iran are starting up again.

On his platform Truth Social, U.S. President Donald Trump shared a story from The Wall Street Journal that confirmed the Pentagon was planning to send an extra carrier to the area.

Trump said that he still thinks a deal can be reached with Iran within the next month and emphasized that talks should not go on for too long. At the same time, he warned that if a deal wasn't made, "painful" things would happen.

Trump and Netanyahu Talk

The military action comes after Trump's recent meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel. Trump called the meeting "very good."

Trump said that Netanyahu knows what's going on with negotiations with Iran, but he made it clear that he is the one who makes the final choice about any possible deal. He also said that the next few months could be hard if the deal is not "very fair and very good."
