In accordance with the vision of President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE Armed Forces have signed a Dh12 million contract for the establishment and maintenance of the Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Kosovo.
Colonel Abdullah Al Hosani, the hospital supervisor general and Saleh Mohammad Al Mulla, deputy secretary general of UAE Red Crescent Society for foreign affairs, inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU), UAE’s official news agency (WAM) said.
A number of officers from the Emirati Armed Forces officers, UN representatives, officials of Kosovo Health Ministry and Municipality, officers of the French multinational Northern Brigade and a representative of the contractor attended the signing ceremony of the MoU.
According to the agency, Lt. General Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Armed Forces Chief of Staff, has paid due attention to the project during his visits to Kosovo to inspect social and health conditions there.
The hospital is seen as a symbol of the armed forces' contribution to stability and security in Kosovo.
Commander of the field hospital was quoted by the agency as saying that the Emirati Armed Forces Hospital in Kosovo had treated in two years time 159,000 cases.
The hospital is expected to be completed by August 2002 to offer health services to the Kosovars – Albawaba.com
