ALBAWABA - According to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, Russia has reportedly placed more than 7,000 North Korean soldiers in areas close to Ukrainian territory, resulting in a huge deployment of these forces near the country's border.

The intelligence assessment claims that these North Korean troops are armed with Russian-made weapons, such as mortars, AK-12 assault rifles, and other offensive weapons.

According to the Ukrainian agency, the soldiers were transferred from Russia's coastal regions to places close to Ukraine in the last week. According to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, the deployment was facilitated by at least 28 Russian Air Force cargo aircraft.

Moscow has allegedly provided the North Korean forces with a variety of military hardware, including grenade launchers, machine guns, sniper rifles, anti-tank guided missiles, 60mm mortars, and night-vision equipment, in addition to rifles and mortars.

According to the statement, these North Korean personnel are now training at five different locations in Russia's Far East, suggesting that they may eventually assist Russia's continuing military actions in Ukraine.
