ALBAWABA - The Ukrainian military announced using an underwater drone to attack Russia for the first time since the start of the war between Kyiv and Moscow, The Independent reported Tuesday.
Ukraine said it hit and destroyed a $400 million Russian submarine in Novorossiysk city, which is located in the Black Sea.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky’s advisor Alexander Kamyshin said that the attack marks the country's first time using an underwater drone, called "Sub Sea Baby", reportedly saying the army has neutralised a submarine.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said, "As a result of the explosion, the submarine suffered critical damage and was effectively put out of action." It also posted a video of the Monday attack.
On the other hand, Russia confirmed the underwater drone attack, but it rejected claims that the submarine was damaged despite the footage shared by Kyiv, CNN reports.
