The United States Security Council (UNSC) has demanded access to Yarmouk refugee camp in response to the unimaginable living conditions of those trapped inside, reports AFP.

Jordanian Ambassador to the UNSC , Dina Kawar expressed concern for those still inside the camp, after Daesh entered Yarmouk on April 1st and claimed 90 percent of the territory.

The UNSC called "for the protection of civilians in the camp for ensuring a humanitarian access to the area including by providing life-saving assistance," Kawar told AFP.

Daesh now controls approximately 60 percent of the camp, as armed Palestinian groups fight to reclaim it.

The camp is located outside of Syria's capital city of Damascus and at one point hosted upwards of 160,000 displaced Palestinian refugees.

Now the population is approximately 18,000 and decreasing, as thousands of Palestinians were evacuated from the camp on April 5th.

Those force to stay struggle to survive amid the extreme violence and limited resources.

Activists reported that at least 13 people were executed by Daesh in Yarmouk camp on April 6th.
