Washington agreed that the UN nuclear watchdog would oversee the disarmament of Libya's nuclear program, the chief of the UN agency said following talks in Vienna.
The United States and Britain will provide logistical support to the inspection works carried out by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said the agency's director general Mohamed ElBaradei.
"I think we have agreement on what needs to be done. Clearly the agency role is very clear that we need to do the verification," ElBaradei stated after talks with US Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and Nuclear Proliferation John Bolton and British envoy William Ehrman.
According to AFP, the meeting came amid a dispute over who should take the leading role in verifying that Libya is making good on its promise to give up WMD programs.
"Clearly we will need American and British support with logistics," ElBaradei added. (Albawaba.com)
