UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced it is making it easier for customers to conduct business around the world through enhancements to its WorldShip® technology offering.
The enhancements will save customers time and money by streamlining the preparation, management and tracking of multiple types of shipments -- small package or heavy freight.
According to McKinsey & Company, global package and freight shipments are expected to more than double over the next decade with an estimated 85 percent of manufactured goods sold across borders by 2020, compared to 20 percent in 2002. As one of the largest transportation companies in the world, UPS is uniquely positioned to assist companies as they “go global.”
“Our customers, large and small, conduct business in an increasingly global economy that is driven by technology,” said Kuert Kuehn, UPS senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. “By further improving our suite of technology we have made it easier for our customers to manage and expand their shipping operations around the world.”
More than 550,000 customers worldwide have installed WorldShip, making it one of the most widely deployed transportation software applications in the world. The latest version now being rolled out -- WorldShip 9.0 – is available in 14 languages and enables customers in KSA to take advantage of two time-of-day delivery options.
With WorldShip 9.0, customers also can do the following:
o prepare shipping labels for small package and international shipments.
o determine who pays shipping charges.
o determine who pays duties and taxes for international shipments.
