US drone strike kills 13 civilians in Afghanistan

:At least 13 civilians have been killed and 14 others wounded in a US drone strike in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, a reliable security source said on Wednesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman while confirming the incident told Pajhwok Afghan News the unmanned aircraft fired missile in Shadal bazaar at around 8:00pm Tuesday night. He, however, did not confirm the killed and wounded were civilians.

But a reliable security official who wished to go unnamed said 13 civilians had been killed and 14 others wounded in the US airstrike.

According to the source the drone missile struck the house of a public health employee who just returned from Haj.

The strike took place at a time when a large number of gusts and relative were present in the house for Haj felicitation when the drone attack took place, the source said.

Malang, commander of Afghan Local Police (ALP), in the area said 13 people were killed and 27 others wounded in the drone strike. He confirmed the dead and injured were civilians.
