The U.S. administration slammed Israel’s "provocative" plan to renovate two holy sites in the occupied West Bank, as fresh clashes erupted in the town of Hebron. According to AFP, young Palestinians hurled rocks at Israeli troops who fired tear gas and rubber bullets during the fourth day of clashes in Hebron since Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem would be included in a national heritage restoration plan.

"We have asked both parties to refrain from provocative and unilateral actions that undermine efforts to resume negotiations to end the conflict," stated US State Department spokesman PJ Crowley. "We have raised this directly with the Israeli government."
