The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar will host an exhibition by the Iranian group 5th Color. The opening reception for the exhibition will take place at the VCUQ Gallery on February 8, 2006 at 7.30 pm.

The exhibition entitled The Points consists of a selection of 10 posters designed by each member of the group. Their sensitivity to Arabic and Latin typography along with their stunningly conceptual approach to imagery will provide a window to the graphic style of contemporary Iran.

The four Iranian graphic designers Alireza Mostafazadeh, Majid Abasi, Saed Meshki and Bijan Sayfouri came together in 2001 to form the group 5th Color.

The group explain that they draw their strengths from one another providing an opportunity in graphic design that would not be possible individually.

“We hope that this exhibition will bring the work of contemporary Iranian graphic designers to the attention of a wider audience and allows them to be seen within the context of international graphic design.” said VCUQ Gallery Director Dr. Jochen Sokoly.

5th Color will be guests of VCUQ as part of the Annual Design Conference Tasmeem Doha 2006 taking place February 20-23, 2006.

The exhibition will run from February 8 – March 1, 2006. The VCUQ Gallery is open Sunday to Thursday, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm. For further information please call +974 492 7200.
