ALBAWABA - At least two people were killed and over a dozen were wounded after a Mexican Navy sailing ship hit the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, New York City Mayor Eric Adams revealed.
New York City mayor further said two people were killed in the incident and another 19 were injured, including two critically.
According to Adams, the ship, known as Cuauhtémoc, was carrying 277 people when it lost power and struck the Brooklyn Bridge.
The Mexican Navy vessel, adorned with a massive green, white, and red Mexican flag, drifted toward the riverbank as spectators hurriedly moved away from the shore.
The Mexican navy posted on X that the Cuauhtémoc, an academy training vessel, was partially damaged in a crash with the Brooklyn Bridge. The incident prevented the vessel from reaching its destination.
The post also read that the status of personnel and material is being reviewed and investigated by naval and local authorities, who were providing help.
