ALBAWABA—A 7.1-magnitude earthquake just hit the Tibet region killing at least 53 people, CNN reported citing Chinese state media.
The powerful earthquake jolted at 9:05 a.m. local time and was followed by multiple aftershocks, the United States Geological Society (USGS) revealed.
In addition to the dozens killed, at least 62 others were injured in the earthquake.
On the other hand, at least 1,000 buildings were destroyed or damaged in Tingri county, at the center of the earthquake, Xinhua said.
Chinese media further added that tremors were detected in neighboring Nepal and a few placed in northern India.
