want your name in lights? the mini film festival is back!
Regional filmmakers have unique opportunity to have their voices heard loud & clear
After its smashing debut in 2006, the MINI Film Festival is back! Following last years’ incredible success, the MINI Film Festival 2007 has revved up for action and submission for entries is now open to all amateur regional filmmakers who would like to see their name up in lights.
“This is a chance for the blossoming film community in the region to take the first steps to becoming world-class film directors,” said Raymond Gedeon, MINI Brand Manager, BMW Group Middle East.
“The MINI Film Festival is all about encouraging aspiring local talent to pick up their cameras, shoot their own original short film and tell the world what it’s like to be living and dreaming and creating right here in the Middle East.”
With the opportunity to win the ultimate tool for all film directors – an Apple Mac Pro – entrants are asked to include the theme “Incredibly…” as part of their short films or as part of the film title.
“The MINI is an incredible car, and worldwide it’s a brand associated with having an individual and incredible style of life. We’re looking for short films which reflect this, so you don’t necessarily need to include a MINI in your movie - just be free, be creative and be incredibly yourself.” added Gedeon.
Filmmakers interested in participating in the MINI Film Festival 2007 should first visit www.MINI-me.com to download an entry form. Short films of up to fifteen minutes are eligible for the competition, and need to be delivered before the 1st of November 2007 to a number of partner locations across the region detailed on the website.
The criteria for success are the films with the most compelling live action, animation, CG and hybrid forays into short-form, visual story-telling. The screening criteria will be creativity, originality, script/or 'no' script, editing, and production. Entries must abide by Islamic and local customs. The preferred format for entries is DVD (any region), DV or VHS.
A professional jury of international and regional acclaim will choose the top 10 films for the MINI Film Festival 2007, with the top ten announced on the 17th of November. Winners will be announced at the exclusive invitation-only gala screening event on 29th November 2007.
Prizes for the competition have been selected with partners in the film industry to help developing talent make their film careers a reality. First prize is an Apple Mac Pro with 30" Cinema Display screen and Final Cut Studio 5.1 software, while second place winner will receive a professional video camera. A film course at a leading regional film institute is on offer for third place winner and € 1000.00 will go to the People's Choice Award winner, which is voted by attendees at the gala screening event via SMS voting.
