Celebrating over 50 years of the Singaporean Chilli Crab dish, Dubai is set for a ‘Uniquely Singapore’ experience this weekend as the Tiger Beer Chilli Crab Festival rolls into town, after great success in both New York and London.
The Chilli Crab is one of Singapore’s signature recipes and is made possible by the kind support of Seafood Supreme, which speciliases in live and fresh seafood. The two-day festival, running at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah Amphitheatre on 26-27 January, is set to showcase the best of the country’s food and drink, while promising an array of activities to entertain all the family.
With its authentic bustling food stalls, dragon dancers, head and foot massages and Chinese calligraphy stalls, the Tiger Beer Singapore Chilli Crab Festival will attempt to transport you directly into the bustling atmosphere at the heart of the Far-East island-state.
Ke-Wei Peh, Area Director for the Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said: “The Chilli Crab and Tiger Beer are two of Singapore’s national icons – the favorite local dish and beverage. One of our top ten must-try dishes, the Chilli Crab has put Singapore on the culinary map. We are sure everyone who visits the festival will be delighted with the unique tastes of Singapore.”
From 2pm until 10pm in the evening, the food and beverages will also be complimented by live cooking stations where visitors can interact with the chefs, the opportunity for children to get their faces painted, henna tattoo stalls, and performances by the festival’s resident band – the Blue Light Collective.
“Tiger Beer is thrilled to be driving the Chilli Crab events all over the world. We are excited about bringing the authentic taste of one of the most popular flavours of the Far East into Dubai after successful events in New York and London,” said Hoshang Mehta Regional Manager, Asia, Middle East and Duty Free, Tiger Beer.
Organisers say the two-day festival is a clear demonstration of the vibrancy and excitement the ‘Lion City’ offers through its own dynamic range of activities and dining options, reflecting Singapore’s multi-cultural population.
Two lucky visitors to the festival will also be given a pair of return tickets to Singapore with accommodation and tours of the island so as to experience the sights and sounds of Singapore, courtesy of the STB and Thai Airways. In addition, Xperienz Holidays will be offering special packages to Singapore starting from AED2,777 from the first day of the festival, valid through to 31 March 2007.
Entry to the Tiger Beer Singapore Chilli Crab festival is free for all visitors between 2pm to 10pm on 26-27 January, at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah Amphitheatre.
About the Singapore Chilli Crab

The chef set up a hawker stall at the seafront with her husband and invented the dish in 1956 using fresh crab, red chillies, tomato sauce, fresh eggs and spring onions.
