Palestinian gunmen on Thursday morning moderately injured an Israeli settler and lightly wounded another in a West Bank shooting attack that took place on the road between Tapuah and Hawara, near Nablus.
Elsewhere in the West Bank, heavy exchanges of fire were reported as Israeli troops surrounded a house in the city of Jenin and Islamic Jihad and Al Aqsa Brigades fighters hiding inside. One Israeli soldier was wounded and later died of his wounds.
The Israeli force threatened to demolish the house if the Palestinians refused to surrender. They later surrendered, according to Israeli sources.
Earlier on Thursday morning, Israel launched air strikes targeting access roads in the Gaza Strip after a barrage of home-msde rockets hit open areas in the Western Negev. No injuries or damage were reported.
On Wednesday night, a Palestinian teenager was shot dead by Israeli fire near the West Bank city of Ramallah. Meanwhile, a new report published recently by the Palestinian national information center (PNIC) has indicated that the Israeli occupation forces have killed 4,298 Palestinian citizens in addition to 82 others while 46,353 others were wounded since the outbreak of the Aqsa intifada in September 2000 till the last month of February 2006.
The dead Palestinians, the report added, include 801 minors and 394 activist directly assassinated by Israeli forces.
