TDIC have hosted an art competition at Saadiyat Construction Village, which invited 4,500 construction workers to create new murals to be displayed around the village.
TDIC staff from the Cultural Department judged the competition against the brief of ‘Making the World a Better Place’. The competition is part of a series of initiatives, including writing workshops and sports competitions, aimed at enriching the lives of the construction workers living on the island, in line with TDIC’s objective to set a new regional benchmark for living standards at this facility.
K Dhawamani a member of the winning team, commented; “Me and my friends spent many hours creating our mural and we were very happy and excited to win! It was great to spend our free time doing an activity we really like. This competition is a good opportunity to socialise and express our creative skills to our brothers in the village.”
Construction workers of more than 10 different nationalities had 12 days to work on their murals in teams of four, while each mural took an average of 36 hours to be completed.
