Hydra Properties – the leading UAE real estate developer has announced its diamond sponsorship of the Zayed International Marathon as part of its continued initiative and enthusiasm to support athletic activities. World class athletes are set to compete for a total of US$ 2 Million at the Zayed International Marathon to be held in Abu Dhabi on 28th February 2008.
The event which is organised under the directives of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and patronised by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs is held in loving memory of the nations late leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Expressing his joy to be a diamond sponsor of this international marathon, Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahim, CEO, Hydra Properties said: "We are delighted to be part of this great event that is organised in loving memory of our late leader and father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The international event will commence from the Armed Officers Sports Club and finish at the Emirates Palace and is expected to be attended by some of the best known long distance runners including the current world record holder and winner of the Dubai marathon Haile Gebrselassie, all competing for a total prize of US$2 million marking this event as one of the world’s richest marathon.
In addition to the world class athletes, a total of around 15,000 runners are expected to participate in various categories that include events for men and women open, school children, veterans and the disabled.
