Dubai-based golfer Yasin Ali will be aiming to continue his climb up the Asian Tour Order of Merit in China later this week after showing that he has fully recovered from an illness that threatened to wreck his season.
Ali, benefiting from a recent sponsorship agreement with Hertz UAE, produced his best performance of the season to date in last weekend’s US$2 million Volvo China Open, finishing 31st after rounds of 70, 75, 74 and 70.
While it was a relatively modest finish for a player who scored three top ten places last year, it was a clear sign that he has finally shrugged off a severe case of viral fever which had which left him physically exhausted for weeks.
“Yas seems to have put the illness behind him and everyone at Hertz is delighted that he has produced such a positive performance in China,” said Bob Farrow, General Manager of Hertz UAE.
His China Open finish saw him climbing 35 places on the Asian Tour Order of Merit to 60th, and he now moves on to the US$2,300,000 BMW Asian Open starting on Thursday at Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club in China.
