ALBAWABA - Nigerian Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin ignited fury on social media over the lavish funeral of his mother, Mama Asetu, who died at 104.
Mama Asetu died in May 2025; however, she was buried on Dec. 12, 2025.
Mama Asetu was laid to rest inside a gold-plated casket, which people said cost ranges between ₦100 million ($68,937) and ₦150 million (over $103,000).
It is worth mentioning that Nigerian Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin is the founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry.

The gold coffin has gone viral online, with dozens of videos and photos being shared slamming the luxurious funeral of Prophet Jeremiah's mother.
The funeral was attended by family members, associates, and sympathisers.
Some activists online claimed that the coffin was solid gold and not gold-plated, but several others disagreed, saying that if it was solid, it would cost more and would need a crane to carry.
Another jokingly commented, "They'll dig it later to collect gold."
