ALBAWABA - A video of Colombian President Gustavo Petro holding the hand of a transgender model went viral on social media following U.S. President Donald Trump's accusations that he is just like Venezuela's leader Nicolas Maduro involved in drug trafficking.
Trump publicly accused Petro of being involved in drug trafficking, saying that Colombia is "very sick" and implying that the Colombian president is running a government that facilitates cocaine production for the U.S. market.
In response, President Gustavo Petro has strongly refused all accusations, calling Trump's remarks slander and unfounded. He also stressed that his name does not appear in any judicial records on drug trafficking.
Is Colombian president in a relationship with transgender model?
A clip has resurfaced on social media showing Petro walking along with a transgender model, Linda Yepes, after an alleged date in Panama, with online activists claiming that he is having an affair despite being married.
The truth is that the footage is very old and dates back to 2024, and the president of the South American nation responded after that stressing that he is "heterosexual" and not gay, but he didn't deny that he wasn't the person in the clip.

A person shared the clip and wrote, "LMAOOOO Colombia's president is having an affair with a trans (male) model."
Another left a comment, reading, "What of the USA president that has been accused of being a pedophile? Is he any better than him."
An X user said, "Is the US administration beginning a campaign to discredit the Colombian President before they target his country?"
However, after the video went viral, the Colombian President, who has been married to philanthropist Veronica Alcocer, responded in a post on X on July 3, 2024, reading, "I am heterosexual, but you will never hear or read a transphobic word from me. Because it would not only stop me from being a man, but human."
He added, "I have always considered that privacy is the 'last ratio' of freedom, the last trench of being free, and I will maintain this principle until I write about myself or die."
