ALBAWABA - Controversy erupted among Egyptians following the death of a 12-year-old school student, called Renad Adel.

Many theories emerged on social media following the death of Renad Adel who fell from the 8th floor leading to her death. The Egyptian girl is a sixth-grade student at Notre Dame de Sion School in Alexandria.

Almasry Today reported citing Maha Abdel Aziz, a member of the Board of Trustees of Notre Dame de Sion College School in Alexandria, as saying that Renad's mother revealed in front of everyone while receiving condolences that her daughter fell from the 8th floor after losing her balance.

She detailed that Renad Adel lost her balance while opening the window above the bed and fell from the eighth floor which led to her death on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Before her mother's announcement, many social media users claimed that Renad was a victim of bullying at school allegedly saying that this was the main reason behind her death as many spread misinformation that Renad "committed suicide after being bullied at her school."

Maha Abdel Aziz cited Renad's mother, who said: "There is no room to talk about bullying or anything else."

In addition, Nessim George, the general coordinator of church schools in Alexandria, also rebuked all allegations regarding the death of Renad Adel, told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Monday that what is being said about the student of Notre Dame de Sion College School claiming her suicide over bullying for not paying her fees and her name being included in the list of those who are late in paying fees is absolutely untrue.

He confirmed that Renad and her sister, who is studying in the 3rd grade, paid all their fees in November 2024.
