ALBAWABA - French Senator Joël Guerriau is exposed after he drugged his female colleague in an attempt to sexually assault her.
Prosecutors said Friday that Guerriau is currently facing preliminary charges of drugging a fellow lawmaker with the intent to commit "rape or sexual assault against Sandrine Josso."
Joël Guerriau, 66, shocked the French community after his crime was exposed to the public in an attempt to sexually assault Josso, 48.
According to French media, the senator is under judicial supervision pending the outcome of the probe, however, he was restricted from movement until further notice.
Prosecutors explained that the two French politicians were long-standing acquaintances, however, they are not together or in a relationship.
Guerriau was charged with "administering to a person, without their knowledge, a substance likely to impair their discernment or control over their actions to commit rape or sexual assault," charges that he denied according to his lawyer Rémi-Pierre Drai.
Nonetheless, Guerriau was also charged with possessing drugs, his lawyer continued.
