The Simpsons is a well-known cartoon series that gained much fame after it was recognized as the show that predicts futuristic events including public figures’ deaths, world disasters and massive life-changing events. However, for the first time ever, another show has beaten the American series and predicted the new Omicron Variant.

Futurama series, which was created by Matt Groening, has predicted the outburst of the new COVID-19 strain called Omicron Variant in the episode "When Aliens Attack."

In the episode, Aliens appear to attack architects on Earth and then appear on T.V. saying: “People of Earth, I am Lrrr of the planet Omicron Perseo 8. ” The cartoon character continues by accusing people of eating their children and now is time for revenge.

Social media users mocked The Simpsons as it is the first time it fails in predicting such a viral virus despite the fact that it had earlier predicted the 2020 pandemic in an episode aired back in 1993.

Furthermore, Futurama fans have rapidly remembered that the series has released an episode that talks about aliens who come from another planet to dominate the earth and kill its residents. The aliens came from a planet called 'Omicron Perseo 8.'

One person wrote: “At least for once The Simpsons didn’t do it - it was Futurama!.” Another said: “In your face Simpsons.” In fact, both shows were created by the same writer, Matt Groening, but they are totally different.

On the other hand, Coronavirus’ new variant was named Omicron after the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet.

The Omicron variant first appeared in South Africa in early November but was reported to the World Health Organization later the same month. Multiple countries have reported cases of the new COVID-19 strain including Germany, Japan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and the UK.

Studies are still underway but scientists are suggesting that COVID-19 vaccines are efective in keeping people safe from the Omicron Variant.
