Horrific crime shakes Iraq: Sara Amar, University of Basra professor, shot dead

ALBAWABA -  Social media channels have been buzzed with a shocking video from Basra, where a professor at the University of Basra was seen shooting his colleague to death. 

Over the past hours, the name of the Iraqi professor Sara Amer (or Sarah Al-Aboudi) has been trending all over along with the shocking video.

A surveillance camera documented the horrific crime where Professor Dhurgham Al-Tamimi, was seen using his gun to kill Sara Amer in a remote area in Abu Al-Khaseeb.

The perpetrator appeared at first talking to the victim, near his car which he had parked in an open place before they disagreed as seen in the clip became heated and he brandished his weapon at her.

The murderer turned to have a relative stage with Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, who announced on Wednesday after the horrific scene spread widely, that "his children's uncle committed this crime. However, he stressed that "the law and justice are above all," according to what was stated in an audio recording attributed to him.

Nonetheless, he stressed that the security forces followed up on the case and were able to arrest the perpetrator less than 12 hours after the crime occurred.

These statements came after security forces found the body of a murdered woman in one of the Abu Al-Khaseeb areas. According to local media, she worked as an employee at the College of Physical Education at the University of Basra.
