ALBAWABA - After suggesting sending soldiers to Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron has lost favor. Polls showed that Macron's position on the issue was unpopular with French voters, indicating a political change.

Macron's latest statement on sending troops to Ukraine seems to have angered French citizens. Recent surveys show Macron's support has dropped 4% in one month, a worrying trend for the incumbent leader.

A startling 72% of French citizens disapproved of Macron's policies, while only 28% supported him. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal is losing favor among youth. A majority of 55% of French residents now disapprove of Attal's performance, a substantial turnaround.

Political observers note the decline of previous President François Hollande in 2013, who faced a similar backlash amid military intervention in Syria.

In a survey of voter preferences for the 2027 presidential election, former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe emerged as a favorite due to his government support.

Macron and his government are also facing increased pressure from far-right leader Marine Le Pen and her protégé Jordan Bardella.

Macron's Ukraine approach shows how fragile foreign ties are and how domestic policies affect public sentiment.
