ALBAWABA - Egyptian authorities banned a plane that was carrying aid to the Gaza Strip from landing in El Arish over a photo of Iranian protest icon Mahsa Amini on the jet.
The aid plane, which belongs to Argentinian filmmaker and former pilot Enrique Piñeyr, was also decorated with multiple human rights slogans, including "No woman should be killed for not covering her head," "No man should be hanged for saying this" and "We had to remove it to land there".
Enrique Piñeyr posted a video showing the removal of Mahsa Amini's photo and the slogans on his official X account and wrote: "To fly a humanitarian cargo to El Arish for Gaza, the Egyptian government would not allow the livery with the photo of Mahsa Amini and the legend."
The Argentinian filmmaker operates aid via his charitable organization called "Solidaire". He also helps Ukrainian refugees get to safety.
Piñeyro was forced to remove the image of Mahsa Amini from his Boeing 787 to be able to land in Egypt and deliver aid to Gaza amid continuous war and Israeli attacks which killed over 22,185 Palestinians, according to the latest statement by the Health Ministry in the strip.
