ALBAWABA - The Iranian government executed on Tuesday morning a man with accusations of 'killing a police officer' during 2022 protests, which emerged following the death of Mahsa Amini at the hands of morality police.

Iran's judiciary revealed Mohammad Ghobadlou was sentenced to death by hanging "after 487 days of legal proceedings." Ghobadlou was charged with 'killing a policeman and injuring five others' during Amini's protests.

According to the Iranian judiciary's Mizan Online website, "The death sentence of Mohammad Ghobadlou ... was carried out this morning after 487 days of legal proceedings."

Activists on social media decried the death sentence of Mohammad Ghobadlou and said that he was innocent, and accused the Iranian government of sentencing him for only participating in the protests.

A person wrote: "A very sad day: the IR has once against executed an innocent man for supporting the Mahsa Amini protests — 22-year-old #MohammadGhobadlou was executed this morning, as his father paced outside the prison hoping his son would not be murdered."

In detail, Mizan revealed that the Iranian man was initially sentenced to death in November 2022 after being convicted of "corruption on Earth for attacking police in Tehran with a car, resulting in the death of one officer and injuries to five others."

Iranain protests Icon Mahsa Amini:

Mahsa Amini, 22, was held by Iran's morality police on Sept. 13, 2022, for violating women's dress code in the country, she was jailed, beaten up by police, entered a hospital and died after three days (Sept. 16, 2022).

The death of Mahsa Amini triggered nationwide protests not only in Iran but worldwide. Women cut their hair and burnt their hijabs as a sign of protesting strict rules that restrict women's freedom in Iran.

The Iranian government announced the death of hundreds of people during the 2022 protests, including dozens of security personnel. Thousands of others were also arrested over what officials labelled as foreign-instigated "riots", nonetheless, Iran executed a number of people who participated in the protests.
