ALBAWABA - A photo went viral online after a man, claimed by Israeli online users to be Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar, was spotted held by Israeli forces half naked and with his eyes covered.
Many circulated the photo of the Palestinian man, whom many Israelis claimed that he is Yahya Sinwar, and celebrated the Israeli "achievement" of arresting the head of Hamas in Gaza.
In the shared picture, a man with white hair was spotted sitting on a chair wearing only a short with his hands cuffed behind his back and his eyes covered. The man was surrounded by Israeli soldiers.
Israeli online users on X widely shared the photo claiming that the man arrested was Yahya Sinwar; however, no statement was released by Hamas to confirm or deny the allegations.
On the other hand, many pro-Palestinian activists denied that the man in the photo is Yahya Sinwar, and said that Israeli forces are desperately trying to convince the world that they are making progress in Gaza and that's why they claimed to arrest Yahya Sinwar.
An advocate also stressed that the photo circulating is being widely shared by the Israeli occupation who are trying to cover their huge loss in Gaza after their ground operation failed to catch any Hamas leader or reach any information.
Many said that the man in the photo shared by Israeli accounts belong to a man who looks like the Hamas leader, but its not him.
Yahya Sinwar 'runs away' in Khan Younis tunnel: Israel video claims
In mid-February, the Israeli armed forces posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) that they caught a video from one of Hamas tunnels in Khan Younis in which they claimed the Hamas leader was running away along with his relatives.
The Israeli Army posted the alleged video of Sinwar on X and captioned it: "Spotted: Yahya Sinwar running away and hiding in his underground terrorist tunnel network as Gazan civilians suffer above ground under the rule of Hamas terrorism."
"There is no tunnel deep enough for him to hide in."
