ALBAWABA - United States Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is heavily rebuked for putting "Somalia first" and accused of "breaking her oath" of American citizenship.
Social media users have shared many videos on X (formerly Twitter) of Omar speaking about Somalia as her homeland and "ignoring" that she is living in the US and represents the American people in Congress.
In one of the videos, Ilhan was giving a speech where a photo of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was placed, the Congresswoman during her talk referred to him as "Our President" triggering massive anger online.
An X user commented: "Ilhan Omar says she has a very special and close relationship with the President of Somalia. She calls him her “uncle” and he calls her his 'girl.' She also refers to him as “our president” while the entire audience in Minnesota cheers."
In another clip, Ilhan Omar was speaking to an audience and then said that she is "Somalian first, Muslim second," however, the congresswoman forgot to mention anything about being an American citizen.
Many people accused her of working for the US Congress to only serve and protect Somali interests.
American YouTuber Benny Johnson criticized the Congresswoman and said: "Ilhan Omar says she will always put 'Somalia First'. In doing so, she broke her oath of office AND she broke her oath of American citizenship.
"She should be expelled from Congress and deported back to Somalia, since she loves it so much."
