'Temporary appointment': Gallant directly threatens to assassinate Naim Qassem

ALBAWABA - Minister of Defence of Israel Yoav Gallant posted a direct threat against newly appointed Hezbollah secretary-general Naim Qassem.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gallant posted the picture of Qassem and wrote: "Temporary appointment. Not for long."

According to Erem News which cited Iranian officials, Naim Qassem had left Beirut for Tehran days before announcing his official appointment as the movement's chief. It added that the former deputy chief of Lebanon's Hezbollah left on October 5.

The Lebanese group announced that Naim Qassem is the new Secretary-general after the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah.

Qassem is a Lebanese Shia cleric and politician and has served as the deputy secretary-general of Hezbollah since 1991.

Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-general of the Hezbollah movement was killed in a series of airstrikes carried out by Israel targeting six buildings including the headquarters of the Iranian-backed group - on Sept. 27.
