ALBAWABA - A photo of an untouched house surrounded by burnt homes due to the ongoing Los Angeles fires in California has swarmed social media sparking debate and speculations about its authenticity because of the heightened use of AI across the internet.

With AI only getting faster, better, and more accessible, internet users have been posting all kinds of misinformation across social media apps such as Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) by using AI-generated images of fake incidents and portraying them as factual news.

Truth behind untouched home during the Los Angeles fires

The unharmed two-story house appears to have been false and AI-generated using Google's SynthID, which is an AI tool used to produce images and videos of all kinds of scenarios. More tech-savvy internet users were able to track the image's roots by scanning it through Google Lens, a tool used to recognize images.

This all comes in after social media users swarmed different apps with long debates and speculations about what could've caused the ongoing Los Angeles fires across Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, and Ventura.

The AI-generated image was made in reference to the Lahaina, Maui house owned by Pattie Tamura which miraculously survived the 2023 Maui wildfires, compared to the other homes surrounding it which unfortunately succumbed to the raging flames.

Tamura's grandfather built the house using cement which could've been one of the reasons the house appeared in pristine condition amid the 2023 wildfires in Maui.
